Kent County Canoe & Kayak Club 2010 Schedule

 

This is the tentative Paddle Schedule for 2010.  Please note that there are a few empty dates.  If you wish to take charge of one of the empty date please let Glenn know by e-mail or snail mail.  He will update the schedule and let the rest of the membership know about the new dates.

 

Remember, by sending our notices by e-mail the club saves money.  This is how we remain in business without requiring dues.

Buckingham Landing a county public landing. Afterwards the group can go up

To Shelley's house on Venaringham Lane which is just a short distance from

the public landing. The tide is to be high about 5:00 pm that day. Starting

Time will be at 4:00 p.m. and we can go up the river or down depending on the

group.

    My father, Jack Diller, asked me to forward directions to my house so you could broadcast to the Kayak folks.

Simplest description:

     Route 291 East (Morgnec Road) out of Chestertown

     Turn right on Buckingham Road (about 3 miles from town). Turn right on Venaringham Lane and house is FIRST lane on left with black top and fence on both sides Landing is down at end of Buckingham.

Wednesday July 7th 4pm

Grasslands Drive off Roundtop Road

Directions: Go 2.7 miles on Roundtop Rd. from the intersection of Route 213. At the sharp 90 degree right corner take left onto gravel road. Go about 100yds.  Take right onto Grasslands Drive.  Follow signs to put-in.  Off driveway road is OK for jeeps and trucks.  Small vehicles can stay on driveway, but it is a longer carry to the put-in.  Launching place is a small beach.  No dock.  Tide will be high about 5:00 p.m.
An alternative put-in is Deep Landing launch ramp about 4 miles from intersection of Route 213 and Route 544.  The one-way trip to our house is about 2 miles.  We will provide a shuttle back to paddlers’ cars.
What to bring:  Bathing suit and towel, picnic food and BYO.  We have pool, ice, and hot charcoal grill available.

Directions: 213 North through Kennedyville to 444 North to Kentmore Park. Left on Turners Point Rd. ½ mile to right on Spring Road. Go to the end to house on right.  Park in the driveway first, then along the road.  Short carry to our beach.  Paddle into Turners Creek or along the shoreline of the Natural Resource Management Area into Swan Pond or Lloyd's Creek.

Bring folding chairs, picnic food & BYOB.  We will provide ice, gas grill, water & lemonade, and paper products.  We have a dock for swimming past the seaweed with a sandy bottom and no jellyfish!

Directions to our house are as follows Rt. 213 south of the river bridge, turn left on to Round Top Road, go approximately two miles and turn left on to Pear Tree Point Road.  Follow Pear Tree approximately one mile until the hard surface ends and continue on the dirt road to second driveway on the left…498 Pear Tree Point Road (410-810-2805).
What to bring:  Lawn Chairs, picnic food and BYO.  We have a gas grill available.  Any questions, give us a call.  We look forward to a big crowd.

Directions: Take Route 213 South and cross Chestertown Bridge.

Kingstown Farm and Home Store is on the right. Make a left on Fey Road and go 8/10 mile to driveway on left. Easy access and drop off to water - angle park on side of driveway. Picnic table and grill available. Bring chair, beverage, and whatever food to eat.

Location: Co-hosted by Beryl Kemp and Nancy & Zane Carter, gathering place and put-in at Beryl's house at the end of Still Pond Creek, 25411 Paradise Point Lane. Start time is 4 pm for high tide at 5:22 pm. BYO picnic food, drinks and folding chair. Ice, grill and paper products provided.

 

Directions: From Chestertown take Rt 213 north. Turn left onto Rt 297 at Suds n Soda. Turn right onto Rt 298 at high school. Turn left onto Coopers Lane. Turn right onto Still Pond Creek Road. Go approx. 8/10 mile, slow when you come to the downhill. You will see water and four mail boxes ahead of you. Beryl's house is on left (white with a steeply-pitched green tin roof). Turn left onto Paradise Point Lane and park in grass lawn area in Beryl's yard. Put-in is from Beryl's floating dock. Overflow parking is just past Beryl's at next house on right (lawn only, do not park in drive).. Public put-in and parking also available 4/10 mile past Beryl's on Still Pond Creek Road. 

CAUTION: Before turning left onto Paradise Point Lane stop, pull slightly forward of turn to check for oncoming traffic that may be approaching from blind curve on right.
